I Never Knew Pastel Could Be This Easy.
Instructors: Jeff and Elaine Leedy
January 18-22 (Mon - Fri)
5 days
Marble Falls, Tx
Tuition: $450
Minimum class size: 8
Join renowned humor artist Jeff Leedy and pastel colorist Elaine Leedy for a fun-filled week learning all about pastels. Each day will include demonstrations by each artist and plenty of student time at the easel with assistance from both Jeff and Elaine. As a bonus, Jeff will include his mini-workshop, “The Drawing Workshop for Painters” to kick-start your success.
We will focus on the techniques used in both soft pastel and oil pastel, as well as discussions on form, light and shade, composition, perspective, and value. Each day will also include “paint-alongs” to enhance your success. Initially we will work fairly small to ensure that you produce several paintings. As the week continues we will tackle larger projects. Elaine will open up her framing space for you to learn to professionally frame your favorite one. Your friends and family will be amazed at what you have learned and produced!
The five-day workshop will be held in Elaine's spacious studio on Historic Main Street in downtown Marble Falls, TX with plenty of restaurants and lodging nearby. We will keep the workshop small to ensure that you get lots of individual instruction.

Drawing Without Pain

Tuition: $240

Did you start painting in mid-life only to discover that you did not draw very well? You're not alone. So how do you get better? Well, let's have fun and get your drawing skills up a notch or two.
Here's what you can expect in my class.
- First, we'll do lots of "gesture drawing" to loosen you up. We'll silence that little critic inside that says, "You don't have talent!"
- We'll show you how to choose things that are not too hard to draw (or paint) that way you are less likely to fail or rather more likely to succeed.
- We'll work in black and white and color touches.
- We'll learn about the best kind of lighting to use.
- We'll play with composition so your pictures have some "style." We'll do about 5-7 drawings per day, so you won't bog down getting tight or detailed.
And when it's over, I think you'll say, "Hey, that wasn't so hard. I didn't feel any pain. And I know I just got better."
One of things that always happens in my classes is that after a few days, several of your student classmates will come around and say to you, "Hey, I didn't know you could draw!" What will you say to that?
So take a chance, take this class and have some fun. They may not call you to do ceilings in the Vatican, but you will get better.

How to Draw the Human Head, Portraits, Caricature, Etc.
Instructor: Jeff Leedy
February 1-5 (Fri-Sun)
5 days
Marble Falls, Tx
Tuition: $400
Minimum class size: 6
All Levels Welcome
Have you always wanted to draw a face, capture a likeness of someone? It seemed so
easy but you knew you didn't quite understand the structure, the makeup of the head.
Before you really "get" what a head is made of, it really helps to know how to draw each part.
Noses have a basic shape which, once you "get it" you always know how to place it correctly on the plane of the face. Ears are funny but have a basic organic pattern to them- we'll investigate that. And getting the eyes correct, well... they really make the face come alive.
I take you all on a journey into the face- how it tilts and poses.
Here's what you can expect in my class.
- First, as I teach about each element, we'll do lots of gesture drawings of each facial part to get familiar. Lots of sketches. Two eyes, two ears, one nose, a few important lines and forms- and that's all there is to the face. Oh yes, glasses and hair-we'll cover that too.
- We'll work in black and white and color touches.
- We'll learn about the best kind of lighting to use on the head.
- We'll do about 5-10 drawings per day, so you won't bog down getting tight or detailed.
And when it's over, I think you'll say, "Hey, that wasn't so hard. I drew some decent heads. They weren't bad at all."
One of things that always happens in my classes is that after a few days, several of your student classmates will come around and say to you, "Hey, I didn't know you could draw!" Ahhh, and what will you say to that?
So take a chance, take this class and have some fun. They may not call you to do Louvre restorations, but you will get better.
